project communications, quick reference guides, service manuals, system
documentation, test scripts, user guides, and websites. Additionally, I can
perform software testing, usability design, quality assurance, and training.
Assignments can be short term or long term. Small or large projects are equally
considered.
I can work onsite, remotely, or telecommute. To provide quality service, my
home office consists of an advanced notebook computer with the most common
authoring tools, such as Word and FrameMaker. Additionally, I use two internet
service providers: one for a high speed fiber optic connection and another for a
backup dialup connection.
I can publish your documentation using many of the popular authoring software
tools, including Acrobat, BookMaster SGML, Captivate, CorelDraw, Dreamweaver,
Excel, FrameMaker, FrameMaker+SGML, FrontPage, FullShot, HTML, HyperSnap,
Interleaf, IPF (OS/2), ISPF, Lotus Notes Domino, Nvu (open source), Paint Shop
Pro, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Project, Rational ClearCase, Rational ClearQuest,
RoboHelp, RoboHTML, SharePoint, Snagit, UIM (AS/400), Visio, Wiki, Word,
WordPerfect, XEDIT, and XML.
I am also familiar with the following documentation methodologies and
standards: Information Mapping, ISO 9002, ISO 17799, Object Modeling
Technique (OMT), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Storyboarding, and Unified Modeling
Language (UML).
Technical
Writer
A technical writer can focus on the big picture, while not missing critical details.
Because communications solutions are not always straightforward, a technical
writer can analyze problems from several views, consider the short term and
long term effects, and then implement the best solution.
